WHERE WILL WE SHOOT?
We will shoot in my cosy studio in Chiswick, West London. An outside location is also available, but not both. If you wish to work outdoors, please let me know. Details of the location and where to meet will be sent to you in an information pack that you will receive upon booking.
WHAT TIME OF DAY DO YOU SHOOT?
Sessions tend to be held around 11am or 1pm depending on availability, but this will change throughout the seasons depending on lighting. We'll confirm a time to suit you when you book. If you need to be slightly earlier or later, just ask.
WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?
If we are working outdoors as the alternative, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a cloudy day; it can actually bring something very different to your photos. Think of the clouds as a big studio-lighting soft box. It can provide us with some really flattering light and shadows. They're actually helpful, if anything.
If the weather is particularly bad (windy or wet) then we may have to take the opportunity to postpone to a later date or move to the studio option. If this is the case, we'll either know the night before if the forecast is horrendous or I'll call you early enough the morning of the shoot before you leave out to travel to me. Again, don't worry - your deposit will still stand if we need to reschedule.
I am unable to refund your deposit due to bad weather unless there is absolutely no other opportunity to arrange a second shoot.
If you need to schedule time away from other work commitments or book tickets for travel in advance of your session, these bookings are made at your own risk in consideration of bad weather or any other need to reschedule.
HOW WILL I RECEIVE MY PHOTOS?
Both preview photos and final edits will be sent to you digitally via a shared folder link, hosted by Dropbox.
Please download and store the photos to your computer and do back them up. I usually aim to keep your unedited preview photos and final edits on my system for at least a year, so if anything goes wrong, I can always send them again. You're welcome to come back for more edits at any time as long as they are still on my system!
DO YOU ASK FOR A DEPOSIT?
Yes. I ask for a non-refundable £30 deposit to be paid upon booking your session in order to secure your slot. However, should you fall ill or have an audition or meeting, please let me know with as much notice as possible so that I can offer your slot to people wanting to shoot sooner. Don't worry, you will not lose your deposit as long as I have been given at least 24 hours notice. Otherwise, we can just book another time to suit you when you're ready.
DO YOU RETOUCH THE PHOTOS?
Yes, although I do try to keep this minimal where I can. Blemishes, acne, dark rings and eye-bags will be removed or reduced along with some changes to the exposure and colour tone settings.
WHAT IS YOUR TURNAROUND TIME?
I usually send your preview images within 48 hours following your shoot. Once you have picked your favourites, I usually aim to get your edits back to you in around 7 to 10 days after you select them. If you need shots edited in an emergency, we can talk about this at the time, just let me know.
CAN I SHAVE MY BEARD DURING THE SHOOT?
You can, no problem. Just bring all the tools with you. If we are outdoors there will be no water or mains supply. People have brought electric trimmers in the past which work well. If you need a clean shave, bring along a bowl, flask of warm water, razor, shaving foam and a towel! If you know you have sensitive skin, I would probably opt out of doing this as it will just eat into your session time and leave us with unsightly redness!
DO YOU DO SHARED SESSIONS?
Not usually, no. It's really important that I give you at least an hour to shoot. Quite often, a client's best work are captured towards the end of the shoot. We need the time to develop a good relationship and get the best out of your photos. Splitting this time would mean sacrificing on quality, which is what neither of us would like.
Sometimes people bring a friend, partner or mum with them. This is fine, although be aware if you're going to feel self conscious. I'll usually ask the other half to go and grab themselves a coffee, or at least wait elsewhere on location for the shoot to conclude, but you know what you can handle.
